Find a Real Estate Instructor

Congratulations! You’ve already made the first step! A Real Estate Instructor will guide you through the process of learning about, applying for, and attaining your license. Many also offer continuing education (CE) classes. HomeSweet Real Estate Academy is proud to have an instructor licensed to provide all the above, as well Broker CE for 2024!

Complete Agent Pre-License Course

The Arkansas Real Estate Commission (AREC) requires Real Estate Agent applicants to complete no fewer than 60 hours of real estate education. HomeSweet Real Estate Academy provides this instruction over six days, in-person at our office at 2907 E Joyce Blvd in Fayetteville, or real-time virtually from the comfort of your own home or office!

Submit your application to become an Agent to the State

This is a somewhat complex process that requires processing and wait times by the AREC, state and federal background checks by Arkansas State Police, fingerprinting, and fees to be paid, after which the AREC will issue a Certificate of Eligibility. The process, timeframes, and order of operations changes from time to time, but we’ll make sure you know exactly how to proceed and what your next steps should be before you complete your pre-license course. And, of course, we’re just a phone call away if you have any questions!

Schedule and pass your agent licensure test

The AREC has contracted with Pearson Vue test centers to administer both your General Salesperson and your Arkansas State Laws, Rules, and Regulations exams. Both tests are administered on a provided computer, and you must obtain at least a score of 70 in order to pass, or retake the section(s).

Find a brokerage to call home

If there’s one thing about being a Real Estate Agent, it’s freedom! You get to make the choice of which Broker you’d like to work with (provided that Broker agrees to take you on, as well). There’s a whole spectrum of duties, fees, perks and incentives that different brokers ask for and provide, so be sure to ask detailed questions, and don’t be afraid to get really specific. Finding a Broker who wants to celebrate success with you, not just make money off of you will get you started on the right foot!

Submit for your License

Your new broker should be able to assist you with this step, as they are required to sign off on your paperwork from the testing facility which shows you’ve successfully passed your exams.

Complete agent post license course

At this point, congratulations are in order! But wait… the AREC requires Real Estates Agents to complete no fewer than 18 hours of real estate education within six months after the date your license is issued. Wouldn’t you know it, HomeSweet Real Estate Academy can help you with this too!

You did it! Taking the steps to become a real estate agent is a big deal, and you should be proud. By following these steps, you’re well on your way to a successful career in Arkansas real estate. And remember, HomeSweet Real Estate Academy is here to help you every step of the way. We’re excited to support you and celebrate your successes as you embark on this new path. Welcome to the world of real estate – let’s make great things happen together!
